One of the purposes for which TableSide exists is to add value and common good to our surrounding communities – by figuratively knocking down the walls that are created between neighbours and Auckland communities. This Sunday we get to literally knock down walls!
We are partnering with a charitable organisation called Pillars, which is a charity established for the children of prisoners. Pillars’ aim is to assist the children of prisoners in getting the support services needed to help prevent intergenerational offending and imprisonment. Children of prisoners need hope and guidance to grow up to be healthy adults and Pillars help provide that hope and guidance.
Pillars was started in Christchurch and has recently started a branch in South Auckland. Unfortunately the offices in which they are located aren’t large enough to hold training sessions for the fabulous mentors for the families of prisoners. This is where TableSide comes in. We are going to give of our time to knock down a wall, repair the gib and put up some shelves to make the space more usable for Pillars. If you can swing a hammer, help carry rubbish down to a trailer or use a vacuum cleaner then we can find a job for you.
Come and join us on Sunday 27 May 2012 from 9am. Meet at Pillars offices at 3/19c Ronwood Avenue, Manukau City. No need to bring anything with you – lunch will be provided.
If you can help out on the day, please email Marcus at marcus.driller@tableside.co.nz or call or text on 0275789663.
Check out below a photo of the wall which will be disappearing!
